When your variations are created, you are ready for the last step: launching your test!
To do so, click on the "Test finalizer" button.
The following window will open:
Set up your test before launching it.
Choice of variations
First of all, you must choose the variations included in the test. By default, all variations are selected and the traffic is allocated equally between the variations and the original page. If you do not want to launch your test on all variations, you can disable them by unchecking the corresponding box, but you must select at least one variation to launch an A/B test.
If you want to launch an multi variate test, check the "Multi variate test" checkbox below the list of variations. For further information about multi variate tests, you can read this article.
The second part of the test finalizer is the choice of the audience. By default, all visitors visiting the page are targeted, but you can define it otherwise.
- This page: all visitors visiting the page on which you launched the editor.
- Entire site: All visitors on your website, regardless of the page they are visiting.
- URLs containing a fragment: this will allow you to target several pages with the same URL fragment. If, for example, you want to target all of your product sheets, and that they all contain /product/ in their URLs, you can target them with this URL fragment.
- A specific advanced segment: this will open the segment builder, which will allow you to target a specific segment. For example, you will be able to select a user according to the time he spent on your website, his geographical position or the language of his browser. For further information about the advanced segments, you can read our article.
- A template segment: this will allow you to target visitors according to an existing segment. It can be a segment created from your personal space or a predefined segment created by default by Kameleoon.
Deviation advanced options
By default, your traffic is allocated equally between all your variations and the original page. If you have 1 variation, 50% of the visitors will be directed to this variation and the other 50% will see the original page.
If you want to change this allocation, click on the "Deviation advanced options" button.
For further information about it, you can read our article.
The last step of your test configuration is the choice of the reporting tool(s) on which you want to see the results of your test.
Only the tools set up from your personal space will appear here.
If you want to use Kameleoon to read your results, you will not need to add it as it is set up by default. However you will need to define your goals for the test.
For further information about the reporting tools and goals set up, you can read this article.
When you have set up all these parameters, congratulations ! You are ready to launch your test.
Launching the test
We recommend you to simulate your test before launching it. Unlike the visualization of your variations, the simulations will also take into account the targeting and the traffic allocation. It will allow you to check all your parameters.
To simulate your test, click on the "Simulate" button on the bottom right of the pop-in.
A new page opens, with a pop-in allowing you to choose the variation you want to test.
For further information, you can read our article about the test simulation.
Estimate the duration of the test
If you do not know how long should your A/B test last, you can use our estimation tool.
Click on the "Estimate the duration of my test" button to display the estimation page.
A new window appears, allowing you to fill in all the necessary information:
When these fields are filled in, the estimation will appear on the right part of your screen.
Note that this is just an estimation: when your test is online, only the trust rate will tell you if your results are reliable or not. For further information, you can read our article about the result page.
When you are ready to launch your test, click on the "Next step" button.
If you did not select any variation or reporting tool, or if you have not selected any goal with Kameleoon reporting tool, this button will be blocked.
The next step - which is the last step before the launching of your test - is a summary of your test settings.
This screen allows you to check if everything is okay.
If you want to change some settings, you can go back to edit them.
If everything seems fine to you, click on the "OK" button on the bottom right of the page.
Congratulations, your test is now online ! A pop-in displays to confirm it to you.
Schedule a test
You can also schedule your test by defining a starting date, an ending date or both.
To do so, on the summary page, click on "Schedule" instead of "OK".
A new page will open allowing you to schedule your test.
We recommend you not to define an end date before launching your test, as only the trust rate will tell you if your test can be stop of if it should still run before having reliable results. However it can be very useful if you want to run your test on a specific period or event for example. In all cases, we recommend you to check the trust rate before reading your results.
